Multifamily property management firm Stonemark Management has promoted Melissa Gill to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO.) She will also continue in her current role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Atlanta/Houston – Andrea Stewart of Stonemark Management has won the top honor in Multi-Housing News’ Excellence Awards in the Property Manager of the Year category. She earned the Gold Award for her work at Cantera at Towne Lake in the Houston suburb of Cypress, Texas.

 

“I am truly grateful,” said Stewart. “Words cannot express how truly thankful and honored that I am to have been chosen to receive this award. If it wasn’t for my team, I definitely couldn’t do it,” she added. “We have a great group of people.”

 

Stewart began managing the luxury community in 2021, just days before Winter Storm Uri hit, bursting pipes, cutting off water and damaging almost half of the apartments. Despite recent neck surgery, she went to work providing pallets of bottled water, portable toilets and complimentary food trucks. A major renovation, the pandemic and serious staffing issues followed, yet fast responses and excellent customer service kept renewals and occupancy high. 

 

“She handled this crisis like a champ,’ Regional Vice President Diane Gilbert-Guthrie recalls. “Despite the chaos, she was able to lead her team to achieve great results.”

 

This is not the first honor related to Cantera at Towne Lake.
