ROSS Companies, a leader in multifamily acquisitions, property management and renovation in the Mid-Atlantic region, today announced the promotion of Billy J. Edwards to chief financial officer, effective immediately. Edwards had served as the company's senior controller since January 2016.

Edwards will be responsible for overseeing ROSS’ accounting, finance, reporting and tax compliance functions as well as supporting overall company growth.

"Our rapid growth and continued focus on increasing our management client base has made it necessary to make CFO a stand-alone position, and Billy is an excellent fit for the role,” said Dave Miskovich, CEO of ROSS Companies, who served as CFO and COO prior to assuming his current title last year. "As our portfolio of owned and managed apartment communities grows throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Billy will be a valuable resource in helping us maximize the return on every investment and management assignment we pursue. He is very thoughtful, level-headed and makes sound decisions based on thorough, fact-based analysis of the situation at hand."

Prior to joining ROSS, Edwards worked in public accounting with CohnReznick LLP as a member of their Private Enterprise Practice Group. Edwards holds a Masters of Professional Accountancy from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration- cum laude from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Daugard as vice president of acquisitions. Daugard comes to ROSS from Rubenstein Partners, a private real estate investment management and advisory firm. He has more than 17 years of experience in commercial real estate and has completed $4.5 billion of transactions in his career.

Mike will play a key role in helping facilitate our strategic growth initiatives involving acquisitions of communities that fit our investment parameters and produce solid risk-adjusted returns."

Prior to his tenure at Rubenstein Partners, Daugard spent the majority of his career at Washington Real Estate Investment Trust, most recently as director of acquisitions and portfolio management. He has also held transaction-related roles for JLL, Lowe Enterprises and The Mills Corporation. 

Daugard graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Maryland at College Park. He later served as an adjunct professor for six years, teaching classes in real estate finance and development.
