VANCOUVER, Washington — The partners of the award-winning PNW-based multi-family marketing agency, GTMA, are pleased to announce the appointment of Barrie Buckner as Chief Executive Officer. Buckner is an accomplished entrepreneur having started businesses in entertainment, music production, and real estate development. Over the last 20 years, he’s acquired skills as a marketing executive, sales leader, and operations expert.
Buckner succeeds Co-Founder Joshua Swanson, who is stepping down to give attention to GTMA’s recent investment, faith-based publication Worship Leader Magazine and media business Authentic Media. Swanson said, “After 12 years of success, GTMA is ready for a leader like Barrie. His passion for company culture, operational excellence, and understanding of new marketing technologies and strategies will serve our team and clients well. I’m so excited to see him take this great company to the next level.”
Barrie is an entrepreneur, owning and operating two music business endeavors. He built a music production company that produced and recorded music for radio and television commercials, partnering with advertising agencies such as Leo Burnett, BBD, Burrell Advertising, and others. He built a children’s brand named Lullaby Confessions that paired positive affirmations with music and books. Through this organization, Barrie built partnerships with Babies “R” Us, Jenny June Sleep Therapy, Nickelodeon UK, Baby First TV, and others.
Barrie joined GTMA in 2014, where he served as the Partnerships Manager, initially focusing on growing west coast business, but his territory was quickly expanded to the entire country. As a two-man team, partnering with the CEO, Barrie was responsible for growing the agency’s revenue by 233% over three years. In 2020 Barrie began to lead the company’s Account Services department, with the responsibility of running the sales team that acquires new business across the U.S. and maintaining existing business via the account management team. He’s also championed forward-thinking ideas about enhancing company culture in the new remote work environment.
"I could not be more honored and excited to lead this company," Buckner says. "Over the past nine years, it has been a constant joy to work at GTMA. I can't say enough about how talented, smart, and fun this team is. I look forward to introducing several aspects of our organization, such as web development, branding, and production, to our core multifamily developer audience."
“I can’t think of a better person to take over the leadership of GTMA,” said GTMA Co-Founder Jason Naumann. “Having worked closely with Barrie for almost a decade, I can say that his passion for excellence, his commitment to integrity, and his drive to make this company the best it can be makes him the ideal person to direct GTMA into its promising future.”
Barrie holds a bachelor’s degree in music and business from DePaul University in Chicago, Il. He married his college sweetheart, has three children, and lives by the quote his father taught him, “If you’re going to do it, do it well."

This prestigious recognition is the first of its kind for the Los Angeles, CA based creative agency.
“The entrepreneur’s dream of taking nothing and turning it into something is still alive and GTMA is proof! All we hear about these days are venture-backed businesses that scale into the stratosphere, but it’s nice to be recognized for just a good idea, hard work, building a great team, and passion,” said Joshua Swanson, CEO of GTMA. “We’re honored to be recognized and doubly honored that the multifamily industry has entrusted us with enough business to help us grow so quickly.”
This recognition comes at a time of tremendous prosperity at GTMA, which was founded with zero financial resources. In addition, the agency has increased its team by fivefold, expanded its presence to over 25 different cities across the U.S. and added over 6,000 square feet of office space to its Los Angeles, CA Headquarters.
“This honor of being #511 on the Inc. 5000 list carries with it a realization that a milestone has been reached and yet another crossroads lay ahead,” said the entrepreneur. “As an agency, we’ve come so far, but we still have a lot of room to grow in order to stay relevant and evolve ahead of the market. That’s why we choose to continuously evolve, evolve and evolve again.”

GTMA Picks Up Awards at the Internet Advertising Competition and the ADDYs
Boutique digital agency specializing in multifamily wins big with the ADDYs and the Internet Advertising Competition. GTMA stands apart from the multifamily marketing industry as the only company recognized for integration of creative, technology, and media awards outside of multifamily.
Los Angeles, CA – April 6th, 2017 – GTMA, a multifamily digital agency, today announced wins at both the Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) and the ADDYs. The awards recognize GTMA’s innovative digital campaigns on behalf of clients and original video content created to promote GTMA brand services.
“We develop campaigns that integrate ideas, insights and technologies to tell a brand’s story and inspire user engagement,” said Joshua Swanson, CEO of GTMA. “We’re honored to be recognized by the IAC and ADDY’s judges for our approach and creative work.”
GTMA took a different approach with these videos, instead of just showing a product GTMA brought the users into the experience with a meta-style interaction. A video about retargeting services was served to users through retargeting, effectively showcasing the products capabilities creatively in a way illustrated the technique and introduced it at the same time. Using a similar approach with the award winning Canvas campaign, GTMA created a video specifically for this mobile platform to mirror the user experience, and saw user interaction and time spent in the ad nearly doubled.

IAC judges, comprised of professionals in the advertising and Internet worlds, selected winners based on the following criteria: creativity, innovation, impact, design, copywriting and use of the medium. The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDY Awards, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 40,000 entries every year in local American Advertising Federation Club (Ad Club) competitions.
