Position Imaging, Inc. announced the pilot of its Smart Package Room® solution at Royal Crest Estates Warwick, a 492 unit apartment community in Rhode Island on November 1, 2016 in partnership with Aimco (Apartment Investment Management Company, AIV) which owns and operates the property.

“We are excited to pilot this new, cutting-edge technology in the belief it can be a sustainable long-term answer to package delivery challenges faced in this and other industries,” says Evan Hoffmann, Aimco’s Senior Vice President of Revenue and Marketing.

The solution enables a hand’s off approach for apartment staff and provides pickup flexibility for residents. It is a simple and intuitive technology offering package tracking, monitoring, and delivery notification to residents.

“The Smart Package Room solution is affordable and scalable,” says Christa Leary, Director of Implementation at Position Imaging. “It can be put into a new or existing space with little or no construction. Large, odd shaped deliveries fit. It allows site teams to almost completely get out of the package handling business.”

Registered Delivery personnel scan and place packages into the room and a pin is sent by email or text to the resident receiving the package. Once inside, the room knows where and when it was placed, if moved, and when picked up. Residents use a unique pin to access the room where light guidance shows the package location.

Apartment staff feel the impact of more packages arriving each day and welcome a viable solution that offers cutting edge technology.

“Piloting this exciting solution is right in line with Aimco culture of driving innovation and change,” says Josh Sherring, Community Manager at Aimco’s Royal Crest Estates Warwick. “It is a solution that allows us to provide an enhanced resident experience – which is paramount.”

The pilot is scheduled to run through the holiday season.

Apartment Investment and Management Company ("Aimco") (NYSE: AIV) today announced that it completed the acquisition of Indigo in Redwood City, California. The $320 million acquisition was primarily funded with §1031 like-kind exchange proceeds from sales completed earlier this year.

Indigo is a newly completed, ten-story luxury community of 416 well-appointed apartment homes featuring high ceilings, hardwood flooring, oversized windows, contemporary kitchens with designer hardwood cabinetry with many apartments accented by private patios or balconies. Indigo also offers 47 penthouse level units with exclusive 10th floor access and upgraded designer finishes.

Indigo’s location within downtown Redwood City is approximately 25 miles southeast of San Francisco and on the northern edge of Silicon Valley, with access to both via CalTrain and adjoining freeways. Downtown Redwood City serves as a focal point of the larger surrounding residential community, with a thriving restaurant, entertainment, and cultural scene, as well as a growing community of technology related jobs.

“The acquisition of Indigo expands our presence in the Bay Area and the desirable Silicon Valley submarket close to transportation, job centers, SFO and Stanford University,” said Aimco Chief Investment Officer John Bezzant. “Our residents will benefit from Indigo’s convenient location and nearby recreational and entertainment options while enjoying all the comforts of upscale apartment living.”

Indigo offers residents extensive onsite amenities including an 18,000 square foot sundeck with a saltwater swimming pool, outdoor workout space and spa with an adjacent indoor fitness center including a yoga and spin studio. Social gathering spaces include an open air cabana lounge with a fireplace and an outdoor theater.

The first residents moved into their newly constructed homes in July and the community is currently 27% leased.

Philadelphia City officials, business, labor and arts leaders, and representatives of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) formally opened the Park Towne Place Museum Residences at a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday afternoon.

Aimco is investing $200 million in the community which consists of four, 18-story towers with 959 apartment homes in a prime location along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.  Built in 1959, Park Towne Place is on the National Register of Historic Places, believed to be the first mid-century modern, multi-family apartment community in the Commonwealth to earn the prestigious designation.  Aimco's revitalization of Park Towne preserves the historic character of the property while creating a contemporary living space with modern conveniences, high-end finishes and attractive amenities.

"Today we celebrate a remarkable public/private partnership among our City and Commonwealth, our labor organizations and our business entities, to make historic Park Towne Place brand new," said Mayor Kenney. "I commend Aimco for its continued investment in our City and for this project which is providing between 400 and 500 construction jobs while adding vibrancy to the Parkway and vitality to our City."

"The revitalization of Park Towne Place is an exciting project for Aimco and we are thrilled to share this day with our many partners," said Aimco Executive Vice President of Redevelopment and Construction Services Patti Fielding. "We are working together to achieve a full-scale transformation of this remarkable property which is a jewel along the Parkway.  Park Towne's spectacular location, blending of historic character and sophisticated contemporary style, and unique art program make this community a stand-out in Aimco's national portfolio."

The South Tower of Park Towne Place has been completely transformed to include brand new apartments with upscale finishes, modern kitchens, spacious walk-in closets and attractive city views.  There are 25,000 square feet of new retail offerings on the lower level including MKRT, a gourmet café and market.  The redevelopment includes The Oar Pub, designed to  honor Philadelphia' s boathouse row along the Schuylkill River, a screening room, demonstration kitchen, pool and shuffleboard tables, and fireplaces.  The South Tower also boasts a 4,000 square foot fitness center with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, spin room and yoga studio, an outdoor pool area with cabanas, and Skyline Lounge with outdoor fire pit and breathtaking views.

With its prominent location among the City's art and cultural institutions, Park Towne Place has designed its own art program to fully integrate the community into the fabric of the Parkway. The complex includes a 100-piece permanent art collection from around the world, with many works by well-known Philadelphia artists.  The dynamic art program also features rotating art exhibits, artist talks and timely workshops in the community's art studio, all open to residents and the public.
