Jeffery DeArman Joins MMM as Real Estate Partner

04 April 2022

Atlanta – Jeffery DeArman has joined Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP as a partner in the Commercial Real Estate Group. He was previously the Chief Legal Officer of a fast-growing regional family-owned business located in Birmingham, Alabama, which has more than 45 company-related branch and warehouse facilities located across the southern, midwestern and eastern portions of the United States.

“Jeff’s experience creating the general counsel function and serving in that role for several years gives him a great perspective into our clients’ needs,” said MMM Managing Partner Simon Malko. “In addition to being the CLO and closing countless real estate transactions, he was the board’s Corporate Secretary, with hands-on corporate governance experience. Additional work with the owner’s family and other business operations also gives him first-hand insight into our clients’ family office and investment-related goals.”

DeArman finds MMM a natural fit for his skills. In addition to having a nationally-ranked real estate practice, he appreciates the firm’s stability and culture. “I spoke with a lot of firms, and this just seemed like the right fit,” he said. “In following the firm over the years, very few people leave. These are people I could enjoy working and spending time with.”

He anticipates representing public and privately-held entities in the acquisition, disposition, development, operation, management, and leasing of commercial real estate, with an initial emphasis on multifamily and mixed-use development.

Before becoming a CLO, DeArman spent more than two decades in private practice. His experience included heading the real estate practice at a national firm. Over his 20+ year career, he has handled large-scale real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings and leases. His clients included a national grocery wholesaler; financial institutions; mixed-use, multifamily, retail and industrial developers and operators; a large manufacturer and distributor; and a global medical technology provider. He also has experience in affordable housing and construction-related issues.

DeArman received his bachelor’s degree from William Jennings Bryan College and earned his J.D.  degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
