Evans Management Group (EMG), the investment and management office for the Evans family and parent company of a vertically integrated portfolio of real estate-focused businesses, is pleased to welcome Terry Pendergist as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Pendergist will bring financial discipline, enhance decision-making, and implement scalable systems to support EMG’s continued growth across its commercial and residential real estate investments.
In her new role, Pendergist will work closely with EMG’s diverse operating subsidiaries, each a leader in its field. EMG’s portfolio spans CF Evans, one of the Southeast’s most respected general contractors; Orange Capital Advisors, a full-service real estate development firm; Palmetto Sitework Services, a top regional site preparation contractor; and Santee Building Solutions, a trusted resource in wood-frame construction.
The group also includes SPECO Contracting, specializing in metal stud framing, insulation, drywall, and acoustical ceilings; TEC Equipment Rental, which provides equipment sales, rentals, and service across South Carolina; and Phero Trucking, delivering logistics support to EMG and its affiliates.
Reporting directly to CEO Brett Evans, Pendergist will collaborate with EMG’s board and subsidiary leaders to strengthen financial oversight across this multi-business platform. Her focus will include capital allocation, enhanced reporting, and building scalable systems that empower leaders with actionable financial insights. A key priority will be supporting the expansion of Orange Capital Advisors, EMG’s merchant real estate development business.
“Terry’s leadership and ability to bring both structure and adaptability make her the right leader for this moment in EMG’s history,” said Brett Evans, EMG CEO. “She will partner with our subsidiaries to ensure financial discipline while preserving the entrepreneurial spirit that has fueled our success since 1947.”
Pendergist joins EMG with nearly two decades of executive financial experience. Most recently, she served as Senior Managing Director for Greystar’s North America Principal Business, where she oversaw accounting, information technology, talent management, and talent acquisition across investment, development, and construction services. She directed financial operations for 110 active U.S. development assets valued at $13.1 billion, managed pursuit projects exceeding $11 billion, and supported 110 completed assets.
Her leadership extended to the Greystar Executive Committee, where she served as Co-Chair in 2024. Pendergist was also recognized as a 2023 GlobeSt. Women of Influence in Real Estate Development. She currently serves on the Board of Visitors for Clemson University, her alma mater.
“I am honored to join Evans Management Group at such an exciting and pivotal time in its journey,” said Pendergist. “EMG’s portfolio spans some of the Southeast’s most respected businesses, and I look forward to partnering with our leaders to strengthen our financial rigor, support growth in each subsidiary, and build on the company’s legacy of excellence.”
